A Wine Bar Minutes from Smithtown

Of everywhere we draw from, Smithtown is the closest. Follow North Country Road east out of the village and you are here in about five minutes, which makes Enology less an occasion and more the place you end up on a Tuesday.

Walk-in seats at the bar

The room seats you for an evening rather than a sitting: a cellar that runs from the North Fork to the old world, small plates from Chef Albert built to be shared, and a bar that will pour you one good glass without any of the ceremony.

A Real Cellar List

Not a house red and a house white. Bottles, glasses and half glasses from Long Island growers and old-world estates, with a team who will happily point you somewhere new.

Happy Hour, Tuesday to Thursday

Five to seven at the bar: ten-dollar glasses, twelve-dollar cocktails, seven-dollar beers, and three dollars off the plates worth sharing.

Small Plates, Not a Set Menu

Charcuterie, whipped ricotta, octopus, tuna tartare. Order two or order six. The kitchen paces them so the conversation never stops for a course.

Close Enough to Be Spontaneous

A table is ninety minutes and a few taps away, and the bar is first come, first served for the nights the plan came together in the car.

Close Enough for a Weeknight

The whole point of a neighborhood wine bar is that you do not need a reason.

Smithtown has plenty of places for a big night. This is the other thing: a room five minutes from home where two people can take a seat at the bar, split a plate, drink something they have not had before, and be home at a reasonable hour. Happy hour runs Tuesday through Thursday for exactly that. Come often enough and the rewards program quietly pays you back a point for every dollar.
